Even Angels Find Rest

I want to share the story behind this piece — a painting of a quiet cherub, resting on a glowing yellow moon, her wings a vivid blue, set against a bold red backdrop.

I imagined the cherub as someone who’s always been strong, always watching over, always giving. I thought of the many, including yours truly, who carry but don’t always release. It meant for me that the wings that hold could one day fold. And in that hush I wanted to capture the beauty of rest, of letting go, even for the celestial, even for the strong.

When I worked on this piece, the yellow moon felt like hope. The blue wings felt like faith. The red backdrop felt like the heartbeat of life. Together they speak to me like - even angels pause, even guardians find quiet moments, and even those who are steady can enjoy care.

As the artist, I picture it in a bedroom where dreams begin, in a nursery where wonder is born, or in a creative nook where imagination grows.

Lastly, I hope this angel brings you a sense of calm. That when you glance at this subject, you feel encouraged to rest too. That you remember, goodness doesn’t require constant motion. Sometimes it simply requires stillness.
