Three Currents, One Family

I want to share the story behind this piece I call “Three Currents, One Family.”

When I first envisioned it, I saw three koi gliding side by side in a shallow, clear stream - their movement in harmony. For me, those three koi symbolize a beginning family: a mother, father, child; all moving together in life’s currents.

I chose vibrant red orange, green, and blue for a reason. Red orange brings life, joy, and prosperity; green tells of growth and hope; blue offers calm and balance. The stones beneath their path represent foundation and stability. The water, clear and gentle, is the space in which life flows—sometimes smooth, sometimes uncertain, but always shared.

Why koi? In many cultures, koi are considered lucky, resilient creatures. They swim upstream, face currents head-on, and yet they move with grace. To me, that’s what family is about: facing challenges, evolving, but doing it together.

As I created this art piece, I allowed small imperfections—brush strokes that break the line, unfinished strokes—so the piece feels alive and human, not overly polished. Because families aren’t perfect; they’re beautiful in their realness.

I created this for your living rooms, bedrooms, or entryways—spaces where your guests sense warmth and unity. I hope when you see it, you don’t just see fish. You feel movement, you feel togetherness, you feel luck in the everyday.
